Agassi Chases 60th Title

Andre Agassi plays in his 87th career final on Sunday at the if… Stockholm Open and can become only the seventh player in history of tennis to win 60 singles titles. The top-seeded American defeated No. 4 seed Tommy Haas 7-6(5), 7-6(4) in the Stockholm semifinals to set up a meeting with Thomas Johansson. The Swede ousted countryman Michael Ryderstedt 6-3, 6-2 to move a step closer to his second title in the Swedish capital. Agassi keeps his qualifying hopes for Tennis Masters Cup Houston alive, but still needs a good performance in next week’s BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

At the Davidoff Swiss Indoors on Saturday, David Nalbandian advanced to the Basel final for the third straight year with a 6-3, 6-4 semifinal win over Chilean Nicolas Massu. Nalbandian will meet Jiri Novak in Sunday\'s final as he looks to maintain pressure on his rivals for the remaining Houston berths.

American legend will not play in Bercy for the second year in a row.


Andre Agassi has withdrawn from the BNP Paribas Masters. The American had his agent notify the tournament organization that he was suffering from his reoccurring right hip injury. He is replaced in the main draw by Romanian lucky-loser Victor Hanescu.

David Nalbandian, initially N° 8 seed of the BNP Paribas Masters, has also pulled out of the tournament, without providing the organization with an official reason. He has however indicated that he will have the tournament doctor, Bernard Montalvan, examine him today, Monday November 1st.
Nalbandian is replaced in the main draw of the BNP Paribas Masters by Italian lucky-loser Davide Sanguinetti.

球迷们用不着在家里拿着计算器计算着他们喜欢的球员在巴黎的每一场比赛后的得分而期盼着他们入围大师杯了，阿加西的臀伤和纳尔班迪安的背伤成全了萨芬、科里亚和亨曼，他们得以顺利拿到休斯敦的入场券。

   但最终产生的八强，也有些人是否参赛还是个未知，阿根廷的科里亚在八月作了肩部手术，此后就一直没有参加巡回赛。

   当然，我们的第一感觉就是他会退出这赛季的最有一站，本周的巴黎大师赛就没有参加。但他已经开始恢复训练了，说不定会在11月的休斯敦给我们一个惊喜。
也许，更明智的选择是放弃，可能会在2005赛季重新回到赛场，那就应该是霍普曼杯了。

   如果科里亚决定退出，大师杯就会为阿加西敞开大门，他目前以420分排名第八，而纳尔班迪安的积分为389分。那样的话，阿加西就可以第14次参加年终的八强赛了。

   而西班牙的莫亚也可能放弃大师杯，虽然肩伤在逐渐康复，但在这位前世界第一的心中，年底的戴维斯杯决赛才是最重要的。纳尔班迪安也许就有了机会，但也要看他的身体状况。

   甚至连世界第一费德勒也可能因为大腿的伤势而退出大师杯。

   这位瑞士人早早就把年终第一据为己有，而如果他不参赛，这将是维兰德之后又一位三项大满贯冠军缺席总决赛。
